About Plante Buoy Sticks
Eric deDoes
President, Plante's Lobster Escape Vents, Inc.
Eric deDoes is an award winning, designer and producer of patented, innovative environmentally friendly lobstering and fishing gear for the lobstering and fishing industries.
Born in Scarborough Maine, Eric has been on the water "since he could stand". He owned his first boat when he was twelve and has worked in some capacity with the fishing industry for most of his life. He was employed by a retail fisherman supply store for fifteen years prior to managing and eventually purchasing Plante's Lobster
Escape Vents, Inc. in 1999.
Because Eric has first-hand experience on the water, he is able to effectively communicate with end -users of his products. This is a key asset when dealing with an industry steeped in tradition and the "old ways". Eric's common sense approach to resolving gear challenges won him the prestigious Eubalaena Award to address issues with right whales.
Plantes currently offers over 100 products to the lobstering and fishing industries and has new designs under development.

Eric and Greg have been finishing a Mussel Ridge 28 lobster boat designed by Calvin Beal Jr. and built by Hutchinson Composites of Cushing, Maine. The hull was built to be light weight for fuel efficency but strong to with stand the abuse of lobster fishing. The boat will be used for testing Plante products and run at the Maine Lobster Boat Races to promote our web site.
The Plante crew will NOT be actively fishing the boat as we have no interest in competing with our customers. Plante's interest is to offer the best Made in Maine products available.
